Remembering our Beloved Prophet President Gordon B. Hinckley

Yesterday morning at 3.45am I was woken by our phone ringing, it was Aaron calling to tell me of the passing of our beloved Prophet President Hinckley. I relayed the sad news to Steve and as we tried to get back to sleep my sadden heart was soon rejoicing as I tried to imagine the joyous reunion of President Hinckley with his wonderful wife Marjorie. I then thought how excited his parents and other members of his family would be to have him back home. My mind then wandered further as I thought about all those gone before that would be lining up to greet him.

He truly was an inspiration to us all, through his example of humility this lovable man with an incredible sense of humor dedicated his life to doing the Lords work and he will be sorely missed. Over the years he has strengthened my testimony and helped me draw closer to my Heavenly Father and Saviour Jesus Christ. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

Some years ago while Steve was serving as a counsellor to our then Mission President - President Jeppson, he had the opportunity to take Aaron and Jessica with him to listen to President Hinckley as he addressed the missionaries. I stayed with a young Beth, but was very excited that Aaron and Jess were able to experience this wonderful opportunity. They were so excited that they got to shake the hand of President and Sister Hinckley and Jess even got a hug from them both. That day left a profound impression on their young minds as they felt of the spirit as they listened to Lord's prophet.
