How quickly time flies when you are having fun…..

On the Friday 30th May we headed to Wales with Steve’s parents, I drove Steve’s Mum in their car with Beth and Steve drove his Dad, Jess and Jack. Ben finished up with his fellow students in London at lunch time and got a train to Chester, which was 18 miles from where we were staying.

We rented a lovely converted barn just outside of Hollywell just across the welsh boarder. On Saturday a beautiful sunny and warm day we drove to Snowdonia National Park which was about an hours drive. Ben was excited to see some mountains although somewhat smaller than those in the western United States of America.

The scenery was just beautiful, both Steve and I spent many holidays as children in Wales and I had certainly forgotten just how picturesque it was, there are so many castles and old churches, not to mention some of the most stunning beaches. We had a really lovely weekend where Steve’s Mum and Dad were able to spend some quality time with Jess, Ben and Jack, we ate lots of good food and Beth, Jess and Ben spent much time in the hot tub which was in the garden.

We drove home on Monday via Liverpool – The European City of Culture! Steve’s Mum commented on the fact that she thought it was NO coincidence that some of the early temples in Utah especially the Salt Lake and St. George temples looked architecturally very similar to ‘The Liver Building’ (a very prominent building on the Liverpool docks), because a lot of the early saints sailed from Liverpool and that building would have been one of the last things they saw as they sailed away, what do you think?

Jess and Ben were originally due to go home on Friday 6th but got to stay a few day’s extra leaving last Monday 9th June, so on the Saturday we took a trip to Alton Towers (for our Non Uk friends a large theme park). Needless to say everyone had a great time, but Steve and I realised that maybe we are getting too old to go on all those crazy rides as we were pretty exhausted at the end of the day. We were as always very sad to say goodbye, these past 3 weeks have just flown by and now it’s back to just the 3 of us. We loved every minute of it, having Jess and Ben stay was fun but they just weren’t as entertaining as Jack, we will miss our cuddles, his cheeky toothy smiles and constant chatter. Jack loved his Auntie Beth and she him, he loved to cuddle with her. If Beth or Jess lay down on the floor he would pull up their top to expose their tummies and lay his head on their stomach’s and suck his thumb, he loves to feel skin on his face. Needless to say Monday was somewhat of a tearful and solemn Day.

Cute photo of Beth and Jack! Interesting stuff about the Liver building - it does look like the early temples doesn't it! x

Sorry Michelle and Debbie, having just re-read my post again, I realised that I didn't make sense. I stating it was a coincidence that the early temples looked like the Liver Building, when I meant to say it was NO coincidence that they looked similar. Neeless to say I have corrected my error!
