A tribute to Oscar - By Beth

Yesterday was a very sad day for us Presburys at Blackbrook Farm House as we lost Oscar our gorgeous ginger tom cat of 9 years. We are heart broken and Beth has made this beautiful tribute to him.

So Steve left a comment on this blog with his thoughts on Oscar and Beth and I decided they needed to be apart of the post so it is -

Oscar was the chief of all of our cats He was the hunter, he was daring, he was strong His main task was to keep a handle on the rat and mice population at BBFH this he did with great courage and delight we never had to worry about any vermin control.

He was a wise old fellow of about nine years old He loved his food and especially when he had caught it himself he would sit below the mulberry tree in our front garden and just enjoy his feast.

Oscar would come to you if you called his name he would just appear as a ball of ginger fur standing out among the green paddock and would talk to you as he came he would then role out completely on his back and have you tickle his belly - which he loved.

In the summer he would often stay in the hay barn and keep watch through the day and night. When you saw Oscar coming - this big and very heavy Ginger cat come strolling through the courtyard you knew – that you had seen a 'Real Cat' his shoulders were like a big rugby football player.

With his bright eyes and lovely shinny ginger coat He will always be remembered as our true Farm Cat.

His apprentice was Smurf - I call him Smurfy He is our only 'Tom' left, but thankfully he was trained by the master of all cats and he will keep the legacy of ‘The Great Oscar’ alive at BBFH

Thank you Oscar for your part in our lives.

People don't understand how hard it is when you lose one of your animals - unless you have loss one yourself. They are a special part of your family and when you lose one, its losing just that - a part of your family.
I loved the video Beth. You did a great job! It made me shed a tear.
Hope things get easier for you all xx

That made me cry. I know exactly how you feel. We still wonder if putting Boykin down was the right decision but when you are faced with terrible odds and a huge bill, there is not much else you can do. Hope you feel better soon.

Just Like Terry's made chocolate better with orange, Oscar made the cat world and the Presbury family better with ORANGE!

A good solid cat. I'm sure he did his best to avoid the car and was happy with the last few days he was able to spend with you Beth!

Now he's with the other Presbury cats on high :)
