Our visit to Donner Lake

The view from the Donner Lake House

I woke one morning at around 5am to find the lake as still as a mill pond

Well I should have posted about this over a month ago! On June 19th we drove to Donner Lake which is in California and not far from Lake Tahoe. It took us most of the day to drive there, but the journey was good.

The reason for our trip was to see President Hoopes Steve's mission president and we were able to spend 3 wonderful days with him. It really is a beautiful place and this is our 4th time there, only this time going home meant go home to Herriman in Utah not back to the UK, it felt kind of strange but good.

Lake Tahoe is famous for it's skiing and the winter Olympics where held there in 1960

President Hoopes beautiful home backed onto Donner Lake and we able to for walks around the area every day, we also visited Lake Tahoe, Beautiful Emerald Bay and other surrounding areas.

Beautiful Emerald Bay

We went to Reno and had an eat all you can buffet lunch at Circus Circus

Dining at Circus Circus

It was a nice relaxing time catching up with our dear friend who is just amazing for his nearly 97 years.

Down town Reno

We had a great journey home and having been away for 5 days we were excited to get back to our animals especially Maizie as we had only had a few days before we left for the trip and she went back to stay with the breeder and she was so excited to see us again.

I am so glad you got to go visit President Hoopes again! What a pretty area he lives in!
Just an FYI, before we took this job in the middle of no where we almost moved close to you guys. I am sad it didn't work out, but when we get a boat (or even before) you can come visit us. It is kind of on the way to Jess's house!

I grew up in Tahoe. I LOVE IT! Every time I see pictures I get home sick.
